It was reported today at 7:30am by Aiden Sullivan that work had begun on demolishing Ward 4 which was used for alcoholics but changed to a mixed rehab ward for some of the better, more independent patients 20 – 50 year old. Usually locked after 7pm. It appears that the

Electro Convulsive Therapy ECT in Willow Court was introduced in 1937. The ECT machine had a plug in head piece attached to thick rubber bands. The rubber bands were then connected to 2 round metal disks. No injections were given prior to the ECT, in the early days of treatment
