We were very honoured to be invited to the Grand Opening of the New Norfolk Distillery (NND) in the newly transformed Industrial Therapy building in Willow Court.
There was approximately 100 people inside the old I.T building for the event.
Among the attendees was the Mayor of the Derwent Valley Council Ben Shaw, several Tasmanian Senators and the Premier of Tasmania Mr Peter Gutwein.
A great speech was given by the Mayor, the Director of NND Tarrant Derksen, and Premier Gutwein.
We were luckily enough to be served canapes and cocktails throughout the duration of the event.
The I.T building has been transformed into a really nice usable space with the office and board room at the front, the rum stills down one wall and 11th Order Brewery fermenters and mash tuns etc on the other wall.
The back wall featured a huge mural which looked a UFO hovering over the Derwent River, with a man rowing a boat with barrels and a bridge that looked very similar to the New Norfolk Bridge.
The opening is just stage 1 of many more stages to come from NND, that includes the recent plan for a $15 million dollar hotel.
I spoke to Tarrant and Kelvin at the end of the night, and they were enquiring about our Willow Court Series. They expressed a real interest in being part of the release which is very promising.
We really enjoyed the night and would like to thank the guys at NND for the invitation, and look forward to being invited to other openings down the track (fingers crossed) and working with them in future.
