The former Willow Court Morgue (1960) is becoming a motel for the daring. It is hoped that the motel will get approvals and be up and running sometime in 2013. The first beds are going to be auctioned off.
I was contacted by the ABC reporter Jackson Vernon and he asked me to clarify some of his information and where he could go to gather some more.
I’m sure this is going to ruffle a few feathers, but good on you Haydn for all the work you have been doing on the site.
We have had some experience with the morgue with each of us already taking turns laying on the slab and in the freezer.
On our September 2012 Investigation of Willow Court Max was the lucky/unlucky person to spend some along time in the morgue. Some of the footage is hoping to be released at the Halloween Fair at Willow Court later this month- http://www.facebook.com/events/340437372717197/?fref=ts
Morgue 1960****
Located in the far Northern Corner of the site opposite Olga is the morgue. It is a small yellow brick building. The interior has several small rooms including Autopsy room, store room, viewing room and waiting room. The Morgue and autopsy areas were tiled and Morgue had a large slab with drainage.
The Morgue served the patients of Willow Court/Royal Derwent and also the community when required.
